  • My wife and I were new to the area, we had just gotten married and moved down here. After a few weeks of searching for cars we found one listed on Craigslist. I called the guy and he gave me the address to come check it out. Turns out it was this place. I asked if I was buying the car from him and he gave me some runaround story about how the car used to be his but he traded into the dealership in order to purchase a car for he and his wife that would transport their kayaks. Some slight dishonesty. I was under the impression we were buying private party from him, but something that could have easily been miscommunication. When we arrived the car was filthy. Had not been vacuumed, cleaned, or scrubbed in any manner that you would expect for a car about to be purchased from a dealership. He had also told me that one of the leather seat panels was going to be replaced before he sold it to us and when I inquired he said "oh they hadn't gotten to it yet". The car was also completely empty on fuel. Bone dry. To the point I was concerned it wouldn't make it down the road to the gas station. The rear door lock also is inoperable as we discovered later. At this point I should have known something was amiss and walked away. But we were sick of looking and driving around for hours to look at cars. Paperwork is signed and we are on our way. 40 miles later the check engine light comes on. I call the salesman and he ignores my calls. I call the dealership and they ignore my complaints and say something about how they "aren't at all associated with the back room business" which is strange considering their name is on the paperwork I signed and their name is on the title that got signed over to me. I finally get ahold of someone who runs the back and they say bring the car in and they will look at it. I had had a different dealership pull the codes for me earlier and they said it was two bad catalytic converters (~2000$ in parts plus labor). And that it looked like it had been going on for a while. We drive an hour and a half to this dealership to have them look at it and it takes them two days to put in an O2 sensor. Which they say is the problem. 20 miles later the check engine light comes on again. Same codes for both catalytic converters. I call them again and they say bring it in again and they'll look at it again. I think I'll pass. I'll eat the bill and have a real shop do my maintenance. The vehicles I purchased has a very specific maintenance schedule. Cooling system and timing belt to be done every 100k. The salesman who allegedly owned the car before me said he had records of this maintenance being done 30,000 miles ago and that he would email me the receipts and record for the maintenance. He apparently can't be located, avoids me at all costs, and the dealership fired him. I doubt this guy even owned the car. And if he did he's a slime ball anyways. TL;DR Avoid this dealership at all costs.
