  • I bring my vehicle to this place only as a last resort for an emergency situation. On the one hand, this place did a great job welding an exhaust pipe to remedy a leak, and the driver's side wheel bearing installed here has also held up well. More recently, my rear brake calipers failed on Christmas Eve 2014, and this CarX was the only place I could find still open for service. I then had my car towed here, where Troy and his crew replaced the rear brake calipers and rear brake pads. My reservations about this place stem from Troy's attempt to add additional, unnecessary services that would have significantly increased my bill; namely, he tried to use a scare tactic that my rotors may fall off because they had worn down outside of some tolerance specification based on some graph he had printed out. I disputed his claim that rotors do not simply "fall off," to which he kept repeating "It could! It could!" Even his own guy responded during the exchange that the rotors would not fall off for being worn, and I simply refused to authorize the fix. Within less than a year, the brake pads CarX installed had already worn out, and although the brake pads have a lifetime warranty, the warranty seems only to provide a reason for a customer to bring back the vehicle and give CarX an excuse for more unnecessary up-selling. To avoid this nonsense, I ordered online high quality AC Delco Durastop ceramic pads along with Bendix rotors that I then had installed by a privately owned repair shop that would install any part provided by the customer (CarX does not allow customers to bring in their own parts for installation). Nevertheless, one of the rear brake calipers installed by CarX in December of 2014 had failed recently, and its grinding on my Bendix rotor required me to replace the CarX brake caliper at my regular repair shop today, along with the rear brake pads I had just installed less than a year ago. I chose Napa ceramic brake pads in order to match the Durastop ceramic pads that are still on the front calipers. Once again, I am annoyed that CarX's brake caliper failed a little over 18 months after installation. I advise that anyone who takes his or her vehicle here to scrutinize any unnecessary up-selling attempt, and I also recommend that one considers the possibility that CarX brake parts may not last very long, as they have not in my case. Consequently, I will continue to bring my vehicle here only when all other options are not available.
