  • The Grand Apartment and Suites is an enjoyable place to stay. The staff from the get go are very accommodating. When we arrived in the evening they explained that we have been given a complementary upgrade. When they told us that the reception staff stated that I wouldn't need to worry about my requested extra blankets and pillows since I will now have a second bedroom. I was impressed that they actually read the website request and took it seriously. The apartment we had was room 222 which was a two bedroom two bathroom and a large patio overlooking a residential area. The room is very spacious with a full refrigerator, dishwasher, small stove and a range. The kitchen does have plates, glasses and flatware but no pots or pans for cooking so bring your own or buy pre-made foods that you can heat with out pans. If you want to grocery shop a Metro supermarket is a few blocks away. The amenities are quite nice with a large exercise room with lots of equipment which is on the second floor. The pool is large and has a jacuzzi that was not very hot as well as a dry sauna in the changing rooms. The two jacuzzis on the roof however were great and hot except they really need a water net because small flies do fall in. The roof has an okay view but there are several large buildings that surround the hotel so that only one side is picture worthy. I chose the hotel especially for the large rooms, the price and also its on a main thoroughfare for local transportation. You can take the 505 bus on Dundas and Jarvis for $3.00 CA to the subway at Young which is $3.00CA or to China town and Kensington Market. Or you can walk a short distance the opposite direction for the trolley $3.25CA to CN Tower and Aquarium. It's also a 11 minuet walk to St. Lawrence Market. The area around the hotel is fine but Sherbrooke a block over is a little shady by the Dollaroma. My complaint about the hotel besides the lack of cooking ware is the parking. The garage below ground is only 6.2 inches high so be sure to measure your vehicle height. As well the garage is extremely narrow and getting around corners in there and parking is a challenge. It's $20CA per day to park.
