We used his firm in 2010 when closing on our first home purchase. I was impressed with that they kept everything digital etc. However, we were straight up given some questionable advice ~ they advised us to close on the property with full payment despite our unit not being completed. It literally took us 6 years to get our contract fulfilled by the builder and not even in its entirety. They should have advised us to withhold funds until all of the stipulations in the contract were completed but they did not. (Which I only found out was an option from other people who were in similar situations after we closed). It was our first home and we were pretty trusting, and didn't know any better, so of course we took their advice. They were recommended to us by our real estate agent who we also didn't use again. When we sold that place and bought our next one I refused to use the same lawyer. If we had withheld funds it would have saved us YEARS of heartache. I'd rather have a more low tech lawyer that offers advice that is favourable to us. I'm somewhat thankful we went through this experience ~ although costly from both a financial and personal perspective I know what to look for in future purchase agreements. They are really nice people though so there's that.
