| - We came here while on a business trip to Scottsdale. Old Towne Scottsdale is such a nice little area. We were able to walk from our hotel to this restaurant. I called late afternoon on a Friday and they were able to get a party of 8 in at the time we wanted. We were so surprised and pleased, since this was was a referral from one of the people that attended the seminar with us.
We sat at a long table for 8. The ambiance there was amazing! The waiter came to our table and we could tell from the start he was irritated. We ordered our drinks, nothing wow wow! He did suggest the VIVA is the most popular, I opted for the bloody mary and my friends the mai tais, prosecco Bellini and mai tais.
The Stetson salad we ordered two for 6 of us to share. WOW, JUST WOW! This salad was the BEST salad I have ever had. It is mixed at your table and is so yummy! I think this is a protected recipe because they do not even list what is in this mixture, but I could have liked the plate!
We all ordered entrees and shared a bit. We ordered the filet with asparagus, mashed potatoes. The Short ribs with brussel sprouts, and mashed potatoes. The filet was in the top 3 steaks I have ever eaten! It was served with a blue cheese butter. I asked for it to be medium, came out medium well, but I had no complaints, it was so tender no knife was needed. The short ribs too, were so tender you did not need a knife. The mushroom entree is super rich, so it's better shared as side but order the entree size for a large group. The cream best sauce, is super rich and make mushrooms taste like candy!
We did not opt for dessert since we were stuffed. The portions are great! The bottled wine list, is huge, it's truly a thick binder of lists of wines. We did not opt for a bottle of wine.
I would have rated this experience a 5 but the waiters frustration with us was apparent the entire time. No one complained, asked for food to be sent back. nothing special. It truly seemed like he didn't normally serve, or was having a super bad day. Service was not good and it tainted the experience. Every one in our party mentioned his shortness, sighs, and visually frustrations. But the food was so great, it outweighted the service.
