  • So we decided to try this famous luxury restaurant, and since dinner is very expensive, we tried it for brunch (About $35-40 per person total, with a non-alcoholic beverage and tip). So we had to wait over an hour to get a seat. Must be a good place right? In such high demand? While waiting I got a coffee at the bar, and even though the small cup cots $3.50 ad I gave a $5 the bartender never brought change back. I was going to leave her a tip anyway, but fine. Let her keep the extra. At last we are finally seated. And something felt wrong... For most of our meal we are surrounded by dirty tables. And there's an army of waiters frantically running around with no visible effect. And then it hit me... they don't use TRAYS!!! Everything is carried one thing at a time. It means if you drop a spoon a waiter has to go all the way to the kitchen to get you a new one, come back and deliver it. They can't just grab it "on the way" like all normal restaurants. It also takes 4 people to clean a table. I also observed them set a tale. Then clean it off. And then set it again. Yes, when you have twenty people, there is a 100% chance of redundancy. Overall... The food is decent, although it looked like a fancy Denny's menu. There was nothing interesting that you can't get at a random breakfast place. Presentation... same thing. Not bad, but nothing impressive. Had this been a little breakfast place with prices half of what they are - it would have been a 5-star! But this is suppose to be grand, top-of-the-roof (they are actually on one of the top floors) experience and they seem to not comprehend simple things. Seriously, this is a tray http://www.remodelista.com/files/img/sub/Vintage-silver-butler-trays.jpg It allows you to carry MULTIPLE things! Highly useful when you have a line up of people looking at the rows of dirty tables. And I have been to places where for that same price, your water was served in pure crystal glasses and coffee cups had gold rims, because you were paying for the experience, as well as the food. The costs for this place are really not justified. You can get a much better deal for your money. The value of their food and service is about 70% of what they are charging. (Let me know if they discover the invention 'Tray'! That would significantly improve the service + waiting time). Note that the yelp current quoted price ($31-50) is only if you order the cheaper items on the menu. Many of their steaks are around $40 and their wines start $10 per glass. So with tip and taxes, if you plan to have one drink during, you are looking at spending at least $60.
