We found ourselves at the Hyatt Place due to the close proximity to where my girlfriend would be working for 2 weeks and due to a recommendation from a colleague of hers.
Unfortunately, we would not make it the whole two weeks.
We checked in on a Sunday evening after a 6 hour ride there. We unpacked and turned on the AC in the room as it was quite warm in there. My girlfriend immediately noticed an odd smell but we kind of dismissed it. We left and went and found some dinner nearby. When we came back the odor was worst and there were multiple occurrences of black ash type circles all over the bed that was next to the AC unit. We immediately notified the staff and we moved to another room down the hall.
One of things prominently advertised is the free breakfast, while it was free I would hardly call it breakfast. There was maybe one day that the food was actually good. The first morning the biscuits were so hard you could not cut them, the same was true for the French toast. By Friday it was kind of a joke guessing how bad breakfast would be. We consistently went down around 8 but it seemed the later we were the better chance it would be edible, but on Friday was the final straw. The eggs had a bit of cheese on them and basically were sour it smelled like vomit. It was one of the most disgusting breakfasts I have ever had the misfortune of having.
We were also excited about having a pool. The first night we went and checked it out and there was obvious floating debris on the top of the water. Hard to tell but it kind of looked like hair... it was less than inviting.
I would go down to the lobby around 5 each day as I had been working all day and it was a change of scenery. On Friday afternoon when one of the staff was reporting to work there was discussions about the previous shift and the one staff member was obviously not happy with what she was hearing and in a very loud tone must have said BS (the actual words) at least 4 times. I do not think the lobby of a rather busy hotel is the place to being having such discussion but maybe that is just me.
I wish this hotel had more going for it than just a good location, the staff was rarely friendly. I really didn't notice that until we moved to another nearby one where every staff member has greeted us with a hello every time they have seen us even if it is the 2nd or 3rd time of the day.
We cut our stay short and moved on the Saturday after we had moved in and it definitely was a good choice.
I am writing this just to inform others of our experience, obviously maybe they were just having a bad week, but we were very let down by our stay.
