| - Find another clinic for emergency care. Had our beloved dog euthanized here a few months ago...He was in the clinic for 1 day. Although these situations are never easy, the clinic should do their best to ensure clients don't view them as simply a money hungry business. When we think back to the experience, it makes us sadder every time we think about how we were treated, while in such a vulnerable state. The staff were rude, exasperated, and the vet always seemed to be in a rush, didn't want to answer questions, and did not explain to us that the animal will pass within seconds of the injection, but promised us "time" with the animal. What we didn't understand was that he meant "time" after our dog was already dead. Who would want that? On top of all that, while we mourned for the loss of our pet in the private room for about 20 minutes, we were interrupted TWICE by a receptionist, asking what color we wanted his urn to be. We had to tell her quite abruptly that we weren't in the right state of mind to make such trivial decisions. I'm guessing they make commission on those urns and her shift was ending and she didn't want to get shafted...I know they deal with deaths of animals everyday. But the rest of us, who aren't desensitized and are dealing with a loved one passing, we needed to be treated with more respect and empathy by the people working at VEC.
