Aveda Institute on King St just east of Church St is a really cool hair school which helps people in Toronto practice the art of personal style. Black clad students practice cutting hair on human heads on one side of the room, while others can be seen performing complicated weaves and doing colouring assignments on the other side of the room. There's always lots to look at here. The stylists cut hair, but not before serving complimentary tea or coffee and scented scalp massages. Don't forget the pure plant and flower essence shampoo and conditioner - its made from plants and not petroleum ! The place is exciting and it smells great. My stylist was Lauren Fisher, and she tried so hard to take me out of the classroom and put me into a Zen state where I could enjoy a signature AVEDA experience. I chose the Blue Gel scented oil and she confidently massaged my head and neck. I don't remember much else. Twenty minutes later she was straightening my sideburns, trimming around my ears and I was done. I had barely touched my tea. The whole trip cost me $35
