I had been told by my Hyundai dealer that my front brakes were at 3 mm and would need to be replaced soon. And after taking a long road trip with lots of canyon and down hill driving, I noticed my front brakes squealing a little bit when stopping.
Made an appointment and left my car with Scott at Network Alignment & Brakes today figuring I would need to have them replaced.
A few hours later, Scott called to say that I still had 20-25% of my brake pad left and could choose to replace them today, if I wanted to just get it over with, or wait a while longer. He did tell me that there several reasons brakes can squeal, such as vibration.
Of course, I opted to wait as I don't do a lot of driving and they'll probably last 6-9 months longer. He cheerfully returned my keys and gave me a quote for when I'm ready.
As others have stated, I really appreciated his honesty and not rushing in to sell me something I didn't need right away. I will definitely take my car back there when I'm ready for new brakes. Quote was $33 less than dealer quote.
