| - This is a fun little tour looking at the old neon signs of old Las Vegas. I can remember walking underneath some of them when they were being used at the hotels and casinos. The tour guide does a great job of explaining what the signs are, the history of the signs, when they were used and some of the history of Las Vegas and how it came to be.
Keep in mind this is a museum and a charity, just one that isn't in a building, so guests should be respectful. This is an outside, walking tour so choose your time or apparel wisely. They are very strict, as they should be, about wandering off from the group or moving unaccompanied. It would be tragic if some of this history was damaged by some knucklehead for kicks.
The office and gift shop are located in the old La Concha Hotel, another small piece of history preserved. Tours are conducted by docents who share history of Las Vegas and the neon signs that represented it through the decades. One walks through history . . . and Neon Art. There are plenty of opportunities to take pictures. The docents do not accept tips, but if you feel inclined you may deposit the tip into a collection/donation for the museum.
Make sure you have reservations as the tours fill up quickly.
We enjoyed the tour and the history. It was a nice reflective, quiet moment in a town otherwise known for over-the-top noise, glitz and glitter.
