  • This is a low-end gym. I knew that going in. I also knew that other people had problems canceling their memberships and were often charged for months after canceling. I knew staff was deceitful (probably out of ignorance to company policies rather than an actual attempt to deceive). Etc. Etc. There's a lot of negativity in the Yelp reviews and IT'S ALL TRUE. I knew that coming in the door. Knew it. And I regretfully enrolled anyway. On my quick tour, I saw that the equipment is in fairly good shape, particularly the massage beds. The showers were clean - much better than most I've seen at 24 Hour Fitness. So I fell for it. Then after they had my money and my billing information, I learned that member perks were not as originally claimed. Though I specifically asked if Black Card guests could use massage equipment and was told yes, when that particular employee wasn't working, the answer was no. No with an attitude. And on my next visit using the massage bed, I swore it off anyway because I received a chemical burn from the cleaning product. The bed was slightly wet when I laid down (with a tee-shirt and a sports bra on) and I felt a dampness on my skin. The bed is heated, so it dried and I thought no big deal. But a couple hours later -- OUCH!!!! I had a chemical burn that lasted for days. According to Yelp reviews I've seen of other PF gyms, this is not an uncommon reaction to whatever solvent they use. Although I'm unhappy, this gym doesn't deserve a 1-star review because It's not a terrible place but I will never, never, never, ever, ever renew my membership with them. I will be happy when my year is up and I am out of contract. There are so many better options out there. ---- UPDATE After reading the Planet Fitness representative comment, I'm thoroughly annoyed. Whoever is in charge of maintaining social media believes that writing the exact same comment to every Yelp review is productive. I don't need to be told some platitudes about how the company hopes that I achieve my fitness goals and then be directed to speak with management about any problems. Suck it, PF. This is Yelp, not your front desk. Your company had the opportunity to prevent a negative Yelp review twice -- once at the front desk and a second time after the front desk called the manager. You can't think that by having the last word on every Yelp review that you can negate all of the bullsh*t. I hope my review prevents at least one person from making the same mistake I did by joining this gym.
