  • I went to Capristo's on a friend's recommendation. We both had bad haircuts elsewhere and needed our hair fixed. My hair was long (below my shoulders) but layered where you could see each layer across the back - not blended at all. I went to Roman Capristo to fix it, telling him I wanted to keep the length but clean up the layers. Price was as I expected for a nice looking salon. Roman was friendly and very funny but he seemed really scattered and while he listens to you in the beginning and seems to be on target when he starts, he seems to lose that focus as he continues working. He spent a good amount of time on my hair and saw right away the error with the bad cut, explaining what should have been done, etc. Seemed to know his stuff and I felt comfortable in the chair - until he started cutting. He carries about 4 conversations at any time (a few of them were VERY inappropriate, especially in front of a new customer even if I am cool and can handle certain discussion). He has an assistant for the menial tasks like washing and drying your hair - she was good. When he was cutting though, there was almost no rhyme or reason to where his scissors went - I actually thought of him as Roman-Scissorhands because they were just moving all over my head. In between this, he colored another woman's hair and commented when she left that it's lighter than she said she wanted but he hoped she didn't notice. As he chopped up my hair, I wondered if he remembered that I said I wanted to keep the length. I have very thick hair and he succeeded at thinning it out, which was needed, but it was just above my shoulders when I left - so he took the length. The cut looked nice after it was dried and styled but once I got home and was responsible for doing it myself, it never looked like that again and now I'm noticing that my layers are even choppier and shorter on the right side than the left. It's an improvement from the previous cut but it still isnt' great, particularly for a salon owner's work.
