| - When I first saw that something new was opening in this location, I was really excited! Formerly a greasy spoon, the location sat empty for several years, sitting among the daycares and really random businesses on this stretch of Rachel (hello spy store and music school!). I often mused that this stretch could be a wonderful vibrant little pocket nestled into an otherwise residential area. Photo Cafe is exactly what is needed to begin the transformation, a bright and welcoming business perfect for popping in for a coffee or a juice.
So enough about my musings on what could become of the neighbourhood, and onto the cafe itself! The space is is filled with light from the big windows. Simple but comfortable tables to sit at. GIANT bags of fair trade coffee imported from Haiti do double duty and serve as decoration. Photos on display on the walls, true to the name of the cafe. Soft music playing in the background, with an island feel to it. Nice and relaxing.
And the coffee? Pretty good! Fairly priced and served with a smile, exactly what I'm looking for in a cafe. There were all kinds of different options to try, so we'll have to go back again and sample more.
A big shout out to the friendly staff. We took our curious toddler with us, and no one batted an eyelash at him. In fact when we were leaving the barista came over to help us with the doors, thinking we were having a hard time. Nope, just a slow toddler who thought it would be more fun to dawdle than to leave.
