  • BREAKFAST at BOUCHON My wife and I stay at The Venetian Palazzo Resort three times a year, twice for business and once for a family vacation. We like Bouchon so much that we eat breakfast there every morning of every stay. We recently attended a short conference at the resort, and since the rest of the conferees were unfamiliar with The Venetian Hotel, I posted several reviews on the conference Facebook page, about different attractions at the resort. My most enthusiastic review was of Bouchon. I am re-posting here, essentially a copy of the review that I wrote for my fellow conferees. For breakfast, no one should miss eating at Bouchon, on the 10th floor of the Venezia Tower at the Venetian Palazzo Resort. Bouchon is not just for quality-seekers who don't mind paying for the best, but also for the budget-minded who are looking for a deal, and for everyone in between. At Bouchon, you can experience the feel, the service, and the environment of fine dining, without paying a fortune for your meal. Their perfectly cooked eggs, potato croquettes, toasted brioche and your choice of bacon or sausage, is just $13. Sourdough waffles, served with fresh strawberries, maple syrup, and vanilla bean butter are just $12 (my wife doesn't like waffles yet she often orders them at Bouchon - for many they are a life-changing experience). Their oatmeal is $7, served in a hot metal bowl with a house-made apple or berry compote drizzled on it, and brown sugar on the side. And somebody at your table has to order the quiche, which is the smoothest, lightest, and most delicious I've ever tasted, for just $13. Bouchon also has more expensive options, including Fois Gras, Salmon Rillettes, a magnificent platter of fresh fruit in season that will serve four or more, trout, mussels, steak, smoked salmon, and some of the best pastries you'll ever eat, the kind that wipe out a man's free will. Important: if it doesn't come with your meal, order a side of baguette and butter and jam. Just do it! There aren't many food items better than good bread with sweet butter and home-made jam, and Bouchon's version of this high form of food combinations is exquisite.
