So, I have daydreams about playing in a wood bat baseball league. I decided to go to a batting cage for the second time in my life to see how I'd do and just for shiggles too.
This place must be like a baseball or softballs player's mecca. I saw a huge selection of various equipment. As the name implies, they have other types of sporting goods too. Also, the staff was outgoing and accommodating.
The batting cages, though only 4 total (two baseball and two softball I believe) were nice:
1. The machines are "manned", so you don't have down time nor do you have to shag your own balls.
2. They use high quality pitch machines that allow them to change pitch types and speeds. We went straight to 75 mph.
3. All we hit were real baseballs as opposed to some yellow plastic balls that I've hit at the only other place I've been. This was a big plus.
4. Compared to the one other place I've been, there was good visibility of the ball coming down the chute to help you time it.
The prices aren't the cheapest but it's well worth it. I think we paid $25 for 30 minutes total to use however you please (alone or with others). We got so many pitches, split between one other person, that 10 minutes each would have been plenty.
I will be back for sure.
PS: don't make the mistake we made in having an old nasty grip on the bat and no batting gloves - ouch!
