| - This place is huge! It's like a mini mall and aquarium in one. The aquarium itself takes up a good portion of the complex but there's also a spot to swim with the dolphins, an arcade, a huge outdoor area, and some food/shopping spots. We started, as recommended by the ticket taker, in the bathrooms. Definitely unlike any other bathroom I've been in and a fun way to start our aquarium adventure. The flow of this place is great-they keep things moving which is great because it's really big. They have all of the typical aquarium things (fish in tanks, touch tanks, etc) and then they have some cool additions that are not traditionally found in aquariums...they have mermaids. So just when you thought you had seen it all, you round the corner to a mermaid in a touch tank with stingrays swimming under her. Yup, keeping it weird but in the best way possible. There's also a separate room where you can have your picture taken with a mermaid (and another way for them to make some $). And then there's a third spot where you will see a mermaid...the carousel theatre. Basically you sit in a small theatre with stadium seating and the room rotates to reveal 4 tanks, one of which has a mermaid that swims around and waves. Then you move on to turtles, sea lions, and sharks. It's a cool way to see the fish (and the mermaid?) and an opportunity to sit down for a few minutes. So I get why this is so popular-it's huge. And while somewhat untraditional, it works.
