| - I usually don't venture out this far, but our teenager had a hankering for affordable Japanese snacks. After paying for a couple of marble pop sodas, cream wafers, mini puddings and matcha milk candies(my son said these snacks were less expensive than the ones in Dragon City Mall), we decided to grab a quick bite.
Our son ordered some cucumber and California(with fake crab meat) rolls, sat down in the little eating area close to one of the entrances of the store, and began to wolf down his lunch.
As far as cucumber rolls go, the cucumbers were crunchy and the sushi rice was soft and moist (but not mushy).
Hubby and I ordered a barbecue pork rice noodle soup and a wonton soup with egg noodle soup, respectively. My wontons were a bit bland but the egg noodles were fairly firm. There was still so much lye on the noodles(they weren't rinsed properly) that it ruined the taste of the broth.
I also couldn't resist buying a whole roast duck for $24.99--maybe I should've thought to ask for a sample first. While we were sitting in the eating area, I managed a little taste, but wasn't too impressed--it was incredibly salty! We brought it home for supper and had to cook a large batch of rice to go with it!
In all fairness, this review was only for the hot soup/noodle/roast station and the candy/snack aisle.
