I would have NEVER entered this place based on looks and location....HOWEVER.... a trustworthy friend once told me about the must have ham sammich which sparked my attention. He also told me about the owner, grumpy Gus, who tells the best stories, you'll want to stay and waste the afternoon away just listening. So I strolled into the divey joint one day and can't tell you how many times I've been back since! Oh that ham on fresh Mancini's.... words cannot explain just how good it is.
The place is never short on opinions or hard working Pittsburghers stopping in for a good lunch. No matter who is tending the kitchen/bar you'll be entertained with friendly conversation and some of the best food you'll ever eat.
If the joint got "cleaned up" you'd miss out on the authenticity. I swear I can feel the spirits of long passed steel mill workers sitting at those bar stools, the place has been here 100 years; if walls could talk! Haha
Do yourself the favor, eat local & meet Gus- guys like him are hard to find nowadays. CASH ONLY, but Gus will take an IOU once you've been in a few times. WHO DOES THAT NOWADAYS! #goodppl
