  • I've lived in Charlotte for 16 years. I've tried every BBQ place from the coast to the mountains. I can honestly say this is the WORST BBQ I've ever had. Nothing was good. I got the lg BBQ plate with slaw and French fries. The slaw was some nasty mustard and vinegar based concoction that tasted like it had been stored in a dirty old boot. The fries were of the shoestring variety. They were fries. The BBQ. Oh boy. The BBQ. This was an extreme disappointment. I've never had something so bland and tasteless in my life. Even the Texas Pete and the in house sauce (that was also nothing to shout about) couldn't save the overchopped, almost puréed meat that they called BBQ. Based on the crowd, I'm guessing that this is a charlotte staple that the older crowd is loyal to. Unfortunately for Spoons, their clientele is dying (literally) out.
