  • I used to love going to Best Buy. But that was years ago. Within the last 10 years, the customer service began slipping and now it has completely fallen off. I can't recall the last time being in the store where an associate actually approached me or helped me find something. Let me relay my last experience. Went in with my mother, she's 82. She wanted a basic laptop to check email, go on Facebook and pay bills. I found one on the website that suited her needs perfectly, and at $279, was not going to break the bank. While looking at the laptops, the expensive laptops, for several minutes, Zach came over and asked which one we wanted. I told him the HP for $279 and instantly he lost all interest. Stated it was in his "value" section and started to walk away. I had to call out to him to ask him where that was. When we got there, the one I wanted wasn't out on display so he tries to sell me a different one for $579. Seriously? Then he tells us the $279 is probably in the warehouse. I told him that's the one we want and he just stands there. I tell him again. He still just stands there. I turned to my mom and asked her if I was speaking English. Finally, off he goes. He's gone for over 10 minutes. I'm kind of beginning to worry I'll not get the laptop. He comes back, with another customer in tow, 2 laptops and a printer. He's talking to this other customer, says nothing to us as he passes us and rings the other customer up. Oh, and sells the customer on a 3 year plan for anti-virus. Sorry, but the guy just had "sucker" written on his forehead. So after making his $1300 sale, he rings us up. Doesn't ask if we have the Best Buy reward card (I forget what it's called) as he asked the other guy. When I bring this up, he looked annoyed and begrudgingly got my number to enter. That was just the last time. Every time previous has been just as bad. If their prices were not so good on so many items, I'd never go there. But they do have good prices. Most of the time. On a related note, I was in a Best Buy near Cypress, TX a few weeks back and awesome customer service. So it's not every BB, just this one.
