The food here is fairly and usually good, but the service was poor during our last visit. I have an aversion to being surprised by hot spice in my food so I asked the server about some of the choices. After our discussion about not liking hotly spiced food I decided on the crab cakes asking for something else to replace the sriracha sauce that came with the cakes. The menu didn't say the crab cakes were spicy, just listed the sauce as spicy. We had a discussion about some alternate sauce possibilities and I felt satisfied that my needs were being met. Until the crab cakes came, and were themselves spicy hot. The tarter sauce replacement helped tone them down but I took them home for my partner to eat. When I asked my server if she had known the crab cakes were spicy when I ordered them after our "spicy" discussion she replied that to her they weren't that spicy and it was a personal taste thing. She did apologize and said she should have told me. yeeeaah. Glad I am not allergic to hot peppers.
