  • I finally got a chance to sample Blue Nile's raw food. I had just come out of a hot yoga class, I was starving and wanted something light and fresh. I ordered a veggie quiche, a vegetable puree inside a pecan crust, which was not half bad. However, the accompanying vegetable (kale, usually a favorite) had a dressing on it that made it taste like spiced liquid rubber. It was disgusting. It was also ironic that as we ate, Matt Monarch was speaking in the next room, touting the benefits and pleasures of raw food. Now I heart Blue Nile's cooked entrees with a passion, and hate giving anything less than 5 stars to them. I had heard great things about their raw cuisine, but I'm not sure I'll order from the raw menu again. Until there's a raw restaurant in the valley, I'll truck up to the Chocola Tree in Sedona or attend the raw potlucks abounding here. As it was, I went home and made a smoothie and my rawness was sated.
