I took a ride around the High Roller Ferris Wheel at the LinQ in Las Vegas this past week. I thought it was pretty cool and observed excellent views of The Strip and surrounding hotels. The price was $24.95 plus a $2.00 handling fee (yes strange I know). Why don't they just raise the price to $26.95 and make people feel better and not think they are being taken advantage of! This was the admission price for adults before 6:00 p.m. as after that time the charge increases by $10.00 for those wanting to ride a night. We had a buy one get one free coupon from the hotel which saved us one admission.
The Ferris wheel claims to be the largest one ever built at over 500 feet and with 28 capsules which according to the staff can hold up to 40 passengers each. I was with 4 other people on my ride. We were not cramped at all, but I cannot see 40 passengers being shoved into one of these capsules. Crazy! I can't imagine more than 10-15 per capsule.
The ride was smooth and some capsules have their own bar inside. The views were great and we were on and off in about 35 minutes. There are large mazes built into the rooms that you pass through getting to the loading area. Someone had ideas of massive crowds when the built this thing. There were very little people there at 5:30 pm when we were there. Overall, it's worth doing once.
