  • I was greeted by a kind salesperson when I made my first (and last) purchase. I was looking for a specific product and was recommended something. I went home and tried it, I got blackheads in the first 3 days of using it. I haven't had blackheads for 10 years. I was misinformed regarding their animal testing policy and didn't do my homework prior to making a purchase. I could have avoided this all by not giving them my business. Bad, bad me. A few days later, when I realized Kiehl's sells in China and (although it's changing) the Chinese gov't is very stringent about testing cosmetics on animals. No tests = no sales. Even if they are being commissioned by the gov't there, Kiehl's' products are being tested. I can't abide by this cruelty. So, I went in a week later to get a refund. I was given slack by the girl in charge and basically told that no they don't test and I had no clue what I was talking about. Yay for misinfomed sales-bots! They did not process the refund correctly - they input the wrong credit card type and my card received no $ back. I was called the next day and told my VISA had expired ( I don't have one ) and the refund didn't work. I called my card issuer and was told to wait 30 days in case it did show up. After 30 days, no refund. I went to the store and explained in plain and simple terms. "I want a refund on my AMEX please, you processed it to a VISA that doesn't exist." Pulling teeth would have been easier! The girl was skeptical that my Amex was the same card used for the purchase (same last 5 digits and exp appear on the original bill of sale) and kept asking for this elusive VISA card. How maddening! I insisted she call my card issuer and push the refund through. I had to force her to take down my card #; no way was I going back to that store. She claimed she would call my CC company and they would find the info without the card# (fat chance!) When she called me later to advise the refund would work, she said I could come back to the store to process the refund or I could have it done on the card# I left her with. DERRRRRRRRRRP!!!! When I got the refund, I donated it to the OSPCA.
