  • 2ND REVIEW 09/18/2017 ~ It has been two months since Scott's Quality Flooring finished work in our home. Eric Mentel, Design Consultant, had told us that we would receive monies for the unused 4 bags of grout that he took back to the store (he also left us with 50 lbs of thin set that we have no use for). Eric promised to send us two pieces of bull nose tile for our bathroom. We have seen nothing nor has anyone called us. It is to bad that it only takes one bad apple to mess thing up for all the rest. We had had Scott's Quality Flooring do our den 2 or 3 years ago and everything when perfect. The work was great and the Design Consultant for that job order the correct amount of materials thus no overcharging whereas Eric Mentel ordered about 12% more on everything that cost us more and leaves us with a lot of extra tile (except the bathroom). I do really think Scott's Quality Flooring is a good company IF you get the correct consultant. 1ST REVIEW 07/27/2017 ~ Several months ago while at the Home & Garden Show, we went to several tile and wood booths. We set up a two venders to come to our home to see if they could deliver what we were looking for. One of the venders is one we had used two years ago and absolutely love the results. Thus, we decided to go with the same vender (Scotts Quality Flooring). The representative, Eric Mentel, Design Consultant, said he could deliver what we wanted. Because of scheduled trips and medical appointments, the work wasn't stared until Thursday July 13th. First, to be started was the demo (the removal of the rugs in our family room, stairs, upstairs hallways and removal of the linoleum in the upstairs guest bathroom). Friday was the day the laying of the new flooring was started. Simon started on the stairs that morning and completed both the stairs and the hallways on Tuesday (no work was done over the weekend). The wood flooring is great and Simon did a wonderful job. In addition, on Friday the 14th, the tile work was to start. Jose brought the tiles for both the guest bathroom and the family room. When he opened the first box of tile for the family room - it was the wrong tile. As we live in east Mesa, it would take too long to drive back to the shop and get the correct tile, bring it back to our house to start work. Therefore, Monday was the day the tile was to be started. When he start dry fitting the tile, we noticed the spacers being used between each tile (we had told Eric we wanted the tile to be butt fitted with very little to no grout lines showing as was done two years ago and had been told that was okay). Jose told us that we wouldn't notice the grout lines and that this is the way it was to be done. Eric stopped by Monday morning, apologized for the mix-up on the floor tile, and assured us that the bathroom tile was good to go. On Tuesday, Eric calls to tell us that the tile for the bathroom was wrong! Jose and JR work for five days to get both rooms tiled. They did a good job but the family room WAS NOT what we had wanted and been told we would get. Eric called Monday (the 24th) to arrange to come by on Tuesday get the final payment for the job. He asked what I thought of the new flooring - I told him how unhappy I am with the family room. He said to give him a chance and he would try to rectify the problem (but I couldn't see how he could). Tuesday morning he came by and did agree that the grout was the wrong color. He could possibly re-grout the floor or maybe stain the grout darker. He would look into it and call back by Friday. In addition, we had four extra bags of thin set and two of mortar. The thin set could be taken back and we would get a refund ($20 or $25 for each bag - I just don't remember witch amount it is) but the mortar could not be returned. We asked that $10 be put towards the purchase of two pieces of bullnose tile for the bathroom should any damaged occur in the future. Eric called back later that day after talking to the owner, Scott. He said that Scott told him the water we have in Arizona could change the initial color of the grout and that we should wait a month to see if the color will be corrected with time. Unfortunately, I doubt that we will ever hear from Scotts Quality Flooring ever again - no refund, no bullnose, and no follow-up on the grout color in the family room. After being so happy with the work that was done in 2015 and all the hassles of wrong materials and how our family room looks now, I cannot see using or recommending using them again when we had been assured of what the end results would be. So many changes occurred that should not have happened. The workers all did great - they all did what their boss told them to do and did it well. Thus, I have absolutely no complaints about workers.
