  • My experience with the staff at the Surprise office left much to be desired. When I called for my appointment they asked the insurance that I had. After seeing the doctor twice, preparing to see him for the final visit before my procedure, I was called the day before the appointment and told that the doctor I had been seeing did not accept my insurance and I would have to see another one. I had voiced to Dr Rami that I would need it to all be done before the middle of December and he said there would be no problem. Because of the change in doctors at the last minute, I couldn't get in to see the new doctor for several weeks. This doctor, Dr UUpal read my chart notes wrong and argued with me that he was going to work on the 3 veins that I had gotten done a couple of years before. I had to call the clinic and asked to speak to Dr Rami to verify that this was NOT in my chart notes and that the new doctor would take care of the right veins. This was toward the end of November and now I had to wait for my insurance to okay the procedure. I called and was told that I had not yet been approved and that I should call my insurance to get approval. (I wondered at the time what I was paying the staff for if I had to do the work. I got the approval but my calls were not returned 3 times. After the 4th time I was told that they had to wait for the paper approval from the insurance. I got mine 5 days before they got theirs but they would not accept mine. I told them from the beginning that it had to be done before the middle of Dec for 2 reasons. The only person who I could have take me to the appointment was not available after that and because I was changing insurance after the first of the year and would not get approved because of a pre-existing condition. I was told there were no appointments available for the time I needed. After calling to find out who was in charge of the AZ Vein and Vascular I was finally given the name of the office manager. I was offered an email by I declined saying I wanted to sent a certified letter so I knew the right person got it. Low and behold, I got a call the next day saying they could "work me in." So I call back only to find that just one of the legs would be done and I would have to schedule another appointment for the other leg. I said no thanks. Then I was asked if I wouldn't be please to have at least one of them done. And to add insult to injury, on my second visit I was told I had a 30$ credit so they would apply my co-pay to the ultrasound which was $25 and that would leave me a credit of $5. I have gotten a bill for $25 for the last three months. I called the number on the bill and was told they were only the book keeper and I would have to call the clinic. I took the bill out to Surprise on my next visit and the staff had no idea why that had happened and told me to call and ask for Sandy. I just mailed the check because by now I feel as though none of the staff have a clue what they are doing and Dr UUpal left me with a feeling of no confidence. I totally trust and like Dr Rami so if you need to use them ask for him.
