There was a 6 month waiting period for the child care facility on Nellis Air Force Base but my maternity leave was almost up so we had to scramble to find a daycare for my baby.
A friend of my husband recommended this place because the lady who runs it (Cheryl?) used to be affiliated with Nellis somehow? My apologies but I already forgot how...I think maybe she used to work at the CDC on base...anyways...I figured she'd be cool with military peeps.Husband went to check it out first and said it was great. Because I'm nosy I had to go check it out for myself before I would allow my baby there. Cuz I'm picky like that.
I like that they are open 6am-7pm. The CDC on base is only open 6:30am-6pm. I also like that Kids Garden will let you pick the amount of days you want your baby to go to daycare. The CDC on base makes you pay every week for the whole week all year, and you only get 2 weeks vacation which you have to give them advance notice for.
I was kinda worried about the location...it's located on Nellis and Bonanza which is sketchy as hell. But the inside is nice and super clean, and there was a keypad with a password that locked the front door. The children appeared to be predominantly african american and hispanic. Our baby was the only white baby in the room.
I met his caregivers and they all seemed incredibly competent and nice, albeit a couple of them were realllllly young. They made us bring all his bottles already made and diapers.
There are no red flags here. They took good care of my baby. I eventually switched him to the child care center on base because they provide formula but this place was just what I needed and I would have been fine if he had stayed here. It was $135.00 for 4 days, slightly less expensive than the CDC on base but they don't provide formula so it balances out. If you need care, I would recommend this place.
