| - I gave these guys two shots. In 2008 I used them for about a year. Service was mediocre, prices were average. The whole low price promotion thing sucks when you get that first bill that is triple what you are expecting, but whatever. I moved out of state and ended my service. I walked into the store, turned in all my equipment, and said thanks.
Couple months later I get a bill for the modem that was never returned. Only...I returned it. I went back and forth with customer service about 800 times, waiting on hold for 20-30 minutes every time. They kept asking me to go in person to the store where I took the items in to see if they could locate the modem. Problem was I lived 700 miles away. They threatened to send me to collections if I didn't pay the bill. I never did, what they did was theft. I got sent to collections and couldn't get cox again.
Thanks guys.
Despite that, in 2013 I moved back to Vegas, they had a great promotion going on ($20/month for internet). My wife signed up for the service (I was banned). We used them for six months, and at least three times a week internet would go out completely. In the evenings the speed was so slow it was unbearable. Called to report the problem...nothing ever happened.
Anyway, after 7 months, we moved again, and decided not to transfer our service. Guess what I got in the mail a month later, a bill for the effing MODEM! AGAIN! I kept my receipt this time, but holy crap, is this the biggest scam in the world or are their employees really just that bad at logging everything into the system??
Never again.
That being said, Vegas could REALLY use some competition here for internet service. The options are all basically just trying to fine which is the least worst.
