  • Truly the place to see and be seen in Toronto! The hotel is chic, modern and oh so hot right now! The views from the rooftop bar are spectacular day or night and the rooms are over sized, modern and very European in feel. I checked in early and they were VERY accommodating. I walked into my room and was surprised at how big it was . . .large entry way, dark wood floors, really comfy platform bed. spacious bathroom and functional workstation. The only thing that I didn't like was that my room smelled like the last guest had smoked a cigar in it so there was this lingering smell each time I opened the door. The floor of the bathroom is heated (my feet thank you!) which is a really nice touch. And there are plenty of plush towels and toiletries. This place is pretty quiet. Even though it sits in a condo complex- there is little noise transfer between the rooms and the common areas although given the proximity of my room to the elevators, you could hear some of the louder guests talking as they made their way down the hallway. A couple of misses for me. First of all, I spent a couple of hours up in the rooftop bar/dining area one afternoon to get some work done. My first two servers were great . . .pleasant, accommodating and seemed to be willing to help each other out. Not sure if the third server was having a bad day or what- but she spilled a drink by the bar and then went on to berate the guy working with her that he was "never where he needed to be!" and went on ranting and raving until this poor guy went and got a towel to clean up her mess. Not sure what the hierarchy is here- but none of this should have been in earshot of the guests. And her attitude continued when she practically slung my drink down in front of me. Yikes! But my hummus plate was quite good and my drink well made so it wasn't a total bust. And the views of the city at both day and night are spectacular. There is also a zero gravity pool on the other end of the roof that looks like it spills off the side of the building. Know that there are limited lounge chairs so you may find yourself without a place to sit if you go later in the day. The main lobby bar fared a little better. The service was quick, the drinks well poured although I found it odd that the bartenders really didn't engage with the customers. Usually when I sit at a bar by myself at a hotel- the bartenders are quick to engage asking where I am from, etc. but such was not the case here. Oh well . . . .at least these people weren't yelling at each other. The other miss for me was that there was no coffee in the rooms. Call me spoiled but even the bad coffee that you can make in your room is better than no coffee at all! And I wish hotels would get over charging for the internet. All in all the pros out weighed the cons. This is a great choice to stay when in the Toronto area.
