A few years ago I purchased my wedding cake through them. It came out beautiful, but unfortunately I can't remember how it tasted as the only bite I had was the one my husband fed me. That's ok - not Becker's fault. Based on appearance, the cake was stunning. The place is also fairly affordable.
With that in mind...recently I wanted to purchase a two-tier bridal shower cake for my friend. I called Becker's three days in a row, each day with a promise that someone would call me back with information that day. Each day, no call. I would call back at night and a nice man wold apologize and tell me I would get a call the next day. Finally - on the third day, a guy called and apologized for not calling back. He asked what I wanted, but after I wasted my time he suggested I email another lady (who he said would call me but didn't) with pictures because he couldn't give me an exact quote. At this point I was annoyed that I had to put so much work into being their customer...and I did not call or email them back and the next day I called another bakery and bought the cake through them.
Becker's got one sale out of me years ago...but it is obvious that since then their service has gone down-hill and I will not contact them again for further business. I shouldn't have to beg to be someone's customer. Shouldn't it be the opposite?
Too bad...I didn't mind their prices or their cake decorating abilities. Had I not had this issue I would have given at least 4 or 5 stars based on my wedding cake 4 years ago. But this rating is based on my two experiences with them...not just one. Deductions had to be made...
