  • You know a sushi place has got to be good when a non-sushi eater gives it 4 stars. I stay away from the stuff like the plague and was so pleased to see a large well stocked menu of items I could enjoy apart from the typical "chicken teriyaki". Naturally I love Brazilian food so Sushi Samba was a great choice for me. Over my some odd 7 trips to Vegas last year, we ate here 3 times. One time we opted for a "omakase" menu, which means trust the chef, where you let you waiter know a price point, food restrictions, or requests and they form a menu for you. It turned out to be wonderful! Everyone was please with the selections, and left full and satisfied. Some of my favorite items are the caramelized plantains which are sweet and tender with a delightful crisp. I also love the seared Kobe beef served sashimi style, with ponzu sauce. This is my favorite dish, the tender beef coated in a zippy ponzu gelee is such a balanced and flavorful dish, I highly recommend it. I also have had a few of the duck dishes, which neither knocked my socks off. A few things I don't like about the joint is the slow service. It takes about 2.5 hours for dinner and when you are dying to hit those craps tables, that seems like forever. Second is the loud thumping club music. I understand they are trying to invoke the feeling of rhythm and sex into their food, but it ends up just being annoying. When I have to shout at my group to have a conversation and I'm not bumping and grinding on a dance floor, that's a problem. In the sea of celebrity chef owned restaurants its nice to see a place that isn't boasting a famous name still be tasty and successful. I suggest paying a visit, perhaps with some ear plugs in your pocket.
