| - This is my first Yelp review and all I can say is Wow! I found out about floating accidentally via an ad on facebook and have been wanting to to it for about 6 months. I have some chronic pain and thought it could be helpful. It was totally wonderful.
For your first float, they show you a short video and things you should be aware of, which is good, particularly if you do have pain.
The first 10 minutes in the tank is strange, and as the video says, you will notice your pain, but after that all I can say is that it was wonderful. You can control the lighting and if you want to leave the pod opened or closed. The time flew by.
You have your own room with a shower for before and after, and they have a public room for drying your hair and doing makeup if you want. There's then what I call the "I'm not ready to leave" room, where there's water, a fish tank and oxygen bar (separate price if you are not a member) for your use. It was tough to leave.
I'll be going back in 2011, and may join as a member for discounted floats. BTW, another benefit is that your skin is super soft - not like coming out of the ocean.
Updating 1/8/11: did my 3rd float today, and each one is better and better. Today I actually dozed off I think. Now that I know what to expect, the time in the tank is well spent from the time getting in until the time leaving. Don't let poor reviews distract you. Everyone is different, and some people like me take time to adjust (BTW, took two friends today as part of a deal they had this weekend and they loved it too...and I got my float for free!!)
