  • After dropping 180 lbs from the squat rack onto the top of my left foot, I visited the Evanston Medical Clinic to be referred for an x-ray. Approximately 1-hour after the completion of the x-ray, I received a call from the lethargic and unprofessional Evanston Medical Clinic receptionist with the results. She informed me that the doctor asked her to tell me that '(I) had 3 broken bones in my foot and that I should rush to the closest emergency (so that I could wait for hours on end) to be fitted with a walking cast.' Being employed in an industry that does not accommodate such a cumbersome device, I asked to speak to the doctor. The receptionist stated that 'she was busy.' When I asked if I could request a call-back from said doctor, the receptionist responded 'nope' and proceeded to hang up the phone. In order to investigate the diagnosis/recommended treatment w the residing Evanston Medical Clinic doctor (Dr Ayesha Imran) in greater detail, I was inconvenienced in having to once again return to the clinic and endlessly twiddle my thumbs in the waiting room. Upon finally sitting with the doctor, it was discovered that I was suffering from 'a nondisplaced oblique intra-articular fracture of the lateral corner of the distal and of the second middle phalanx'...in layman's terms, a fractured toe. Being a far cry from '3 broken bones in my foot,' my fractured toe required a $6 roll of medical tape from Shoppers (to 'buddy tape' my injured second toe to my healthy third), as opposed to the cumbersome (and expensive) walking cast recommended by Dr Imran. Not certain as to whether the unprofessionalism of the receptionist or the ineptness of the residing doctor should be of greater concern, I can most definitely tell you that I will not be returning to the Evanston Medical Clinic. An absolute ridiculous experience and an embarrassment to the medical profession.
