  • My childhood is loaded with memories of this beach, considering it was the closest to us. Like many of the other yelpers have mentioned, this beach does not have the sharp shards of rocks that feel like they're literally amputating your foot off while you're trying to walk into the water. Nope. Just nice, soft sand with a gradual decline. It also appears a bit cleaner and I think this is directly linked to the fact that they charge for parking. I think this weeds out folks who just don't give a damn about what they leave behind. This beach is great for families, especially since you're not constantly worried one of the kiddies is going to pick up a drug needle washed ashore. It's far enough away from the city to stay nice and clean. Besides that, this place is loaded with activities and amenities ranging from on-duty lifeguards, clean bathrooms, showers, sand volleyball courts, and rental equipment like kayaks, etc. Sweet right? And after reading Stefanie C.'s review, I know realize there's a doggie area which makes me like this beach even more. I'll tell you, we always pondered driving the extra miles to head to Headlands Beach when we were younger, but this beach almost always won--unless we didn't bring cash for parking. Definitely check it out before summer is over! And yes, there's a power plant in the distance, but just don't look at it--haha.
