| - When you think of Main Street Unionville, a couple things may come to mind. The performances at the band stand, Jake's restaurant, the frenzy of people walking around when Pokemon Go was first released, and of course, The Unionville Arms.
I have no idea how long the Arms has been around, but they've stumbled upon something that works. The Arms is a pub/restaurant that serves up many of your pub style favourites. In my opinion, if you're coming to the Arms, you're looking for solid food, possibly drinks, and somewhere to have a good time. Apparently they have live music on occasion as well, but I've never been.
On our most recent stop at the Arms I bought the Arms Beef Chili Nachos and the Meat Lovers Pizza. The nachos hit the spot as an appetizer. They serve up a relatively standard plate of nachos topped with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and a pretty damn good chili. Of course you'll be served salsa and sour cream on the side. I've got zero complaints about this dish. Whether or not it actually was, everything on the plate tasted fresh, and they hit the mark with the flavourful chili.
It was a similar story with the Meat Lovers Pizza. The super flat crust pizza shone with fresh ingredients, and did not disappoint. It's topped with marinara, cheese, pepperoni, bacon, and sausage.
Whereas Jakes across the street tends to attract a majority younger crowd, you'll find the demographic leans somewhat in the other direction at the Arms. If that's important to you, there you go.
The Unionville Arms has been a staple in the area for so long for a reason, and I'd be happy to head back whenever. You're probably not heading to the Arms for a show stopping dining experience, but with good people, you'll have a good time.
