  • If you are interested in renting an apartment at the Station on Central walk, run, or light rail AWAY from this place as fast as possible!!! If you are only concerned with the aesthetics of your apartment community but are willing to forego maintenance in your own unit then this is the place for you. This place was formally the Empirian on Central and was recently taken over by new management on April 29th, 2011. Anyone and their brother can tell you how awful Empirian was but it seems The Station on Central appears to be living up to their predecessor. When ignored maintenance requests are brought up the first thing management says is "it must have been under the old management" which I delightfully remind them every time, "No, it was put in with you last week." When management changed in April I took all of my unanswered requests to new management and they continued Empirian's tradition of sitting on the requests for weeks and weeks. We've had a leaky roof ever since we moved into our apartment in August 2010 no doubt harboring black mold and nothing has been done about this, management, new and old have NEVER once even come to check on this though we've made repeated maintenance requests. We reported our dishwasher and washing machine broken on April 29th, 2011. It took them a month to fix the washing machine and as of this writing (June 15, 2011) they still have not fixed our dishwasher. We usually make weekly calls or visits to the office to inquire about this request and after being told "the request must have been made under the old management" and our having to correct them they say "you have my word it will get done" and it never does. One of the things they emphasize in their brochures is how "secure" this place is. There are 4 gates around our building alone that have been broken since before we moved in. A few weeks ago a Phoenix Police Department helicopter circled the Station on Central complex informing residents that a woman ran from the police and was hiding in the complex. We were informed that if we saw the woman we should call 911 immediately. Nothing better than having a police helicopter spotlight shined down on you on a Saturday night. Seeing as most of the gates don't work it has made it convenient for anyone off the street to come on in and take a stroll. Adding issue to the ongoing ignored complaints is the attitude of the front office staff. Not once have I seen or heard from the property manager, Angela. My experiences with the current Station on Central office staff has been horrendous. They lie to your face and they are not even good at it. Our lease expires in two months and I have no interest in renewing at all. It seems they are doing a lot of renovations and bringing the property up to a higher standard and perhaps they are trying to get their old tenants out so they can jack up the rent. But this place is thumbs down all the way. I've also attached a photo of what the trash situation usually looks like around the beginning of the week. This picture is from the Tuesday after Memorial Day. As of this morning (June 15, 2011) it seems to be the same. It's really fun when people are visiting from out of town and ask if there is a trash strike or something. I was going to wait until after we moved out to Yelp about this place because I fear retaliation from management. I get so infuriated by them however I've pretty much given up attempting to contact them at this point about anything because it usually just puts me in a bad mood. It appears they are most concerned with getting tenants in the door and a lease signed but are unwilling to do anything for you past that. The rent has been low compared to other places nearby but there is a reason for that. It appears they are raising the rent soon-since this is the case I recommend continuing to shop around-there are plenty of other complexes in the area that will likely treat you better. Just to update they actually came and "fixed" the leak in our ceiling around about late June. However it still leaked the following week during a rainstorm. We have since moved out and I couldn't be happier.
