  • Screw discount cab. I've had two experiences with them and both were miserable. I called for a cab to head to a bar on a friday night, and the dispatcher insisted I tell him my apartment number. I live in a big apartment building - unless your driver intends on pulling up the stairs, you should be just fine with the building number. But no, he kept insisting I give him my apartment number, which I just wasn't comfortable with - there is absolutely no need for you to have it, unless you're looking to rob me while I'm out. Needless to say the cab never came. I also happened on a Discount Cab late one night on my way home from the airport. No clearly posted rates or anything. The driver bitched the whole way to my place that all his fares that day were short ones from the airport to central phoenix, he hadn't had a long fare to North Scottsdale all day. Bad news. Once he pulled up to my building, he added a $1.50 phantom charge to my already somehow $18 fare, saying it was an "airport fee" - bullshit. Since I did feel a little bad he had short fares, I was going to tip him on top of that, after all I did have some heavy luggage. But all I had was a $20 and a $5. I handed him the money and asked for change, he jumped back in his cab and took off. I'd report his ass, but he didn't have his name or badge number displayed!
