Never use RTDRS. They fail to acknowledge about the tennants point of view. When you make a phone call to ask questions, some of the receptions are quite rude! My landlord didn"t provide me heat for 3 months in winter. And didn't give me back my full security deposit on time. I hired a legal assistance to represent me. The hearing officer completely ignored the rights of having a representative speak my behalf even though I was told I was allowed by the front desk and student legal assistance. I had something to I forget to say at the end and wouldn't even let me say it towards the end, assuming it had something to do with my security deposit. The officer also ignore that fact that it was illegal for a landlord not to give me my security deposit on time. I applied for abatement not having heat for 3 months and officer came up with only providing me 15% of one months rent of abatement which was $105. Where did she come up with 15%. It wasnt a fair hearing. And I pretty much got nothing out of it accept a wasted if my time, effort with evidence and money for $105 accept I got my security deposit back. RTDRS in Calgary is a complete joke! And i would advise people to avoid rtdrs, but try QB.
