| - So, my family and I (party of 8) dined here on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 (8:30p reservation). I will get straight to the point people. Clearly, Chef Ramsey was not in the building that day... OMG... So, we ordered the shellfish platter, chilled crab cake salads and Caesar salad for appetizers. No complaints. Dinners ordered were 2 orders of rib eye split, 1 chicken breast, 2 orders of sliders for the kids with extra pickles, and the one rib cap for me. Let's start with the kids sliders. The burgers were flavorful. The potato wedges were okay. The pickles, spicy. Why give kids spicy pickles... The waitress failed to mention the pickles would be spicy. The demi-glace that was on the plate was dried out. It was barely moist. My 10 year old scraped off the sauce. My 5 year old took one bite and fell asleep. The chicken was awesome. It had flavor. It was juicy. It was right. Now the steaks, sigh... The 2 rib eyes were order to be cooked Medium Well, they were served Medium. The Rib cap, which was described as being the most flavorful cut of meat, that was ordered to be cooked to a medium temp and was served medium rare. Besides the cook of the meat not being right, none of our steaks were hot, they were warm like it sat in the window too long. The meat was bland and needed seasoning. The sauce that was put on top was not enough to make the meat have flavor. The rib eye people were not impressed. My teenage niece said, "my steak at Chili's the day before tasted way better than this. I am not impressed." The others made the best of it. They added salt to the meat and forced themselves to eat it. Me, I had the rib cap. Having dined at Chef Ramsey's London West Hollywood restaurant on several occasions, I had high expectations of this place. Sadly, the ball was dropped. My meat was under cooked and not seasoned. As I stated before, it was not hot, just warm. I complained to the waitress and showed her how bloody my steak was. She agreed it was not a medium cook and returned it to the kitchen. She offered to have it cooked more. When I told her how unhappy I was based on her description, she offered to have me try the filet instead. I agreed and she brought out a piping hot freshly cooked steak. Did it taste better, yes, but only because it was hot. I told her it was still bland and lacking seasoning. I have never been to an upscale steakhouse and needed to add extra seasoning to my meat. The red wine I was drinking wasn't enough to bring out the flavor of the beef. Instead of complaining again, I just took the meat to go because at this point, I was done. All I could say was, damn, I wish I ordered the fish. Anyways, the waitress said the Manager wanted to apologize for the poor dinner we had and offered us Chef Ramsey's signature desert which was the sticky toffee pudding. Well, for a party of 8, she brought out two cakes for us to share (if they were really sorry, we would have all received our own portion of desert or given a choice to choose something we wanted). Though it was great tasting, I couldn't understand why such a small portion of ice cream was served with such a large portion of cake. Cute, yes, but they either need to add another stick of ice cream or make the cake smaller. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this particular Ramsey establishment. It's not worth the $$$$. The service was nice. Can't say the ambiance was great because for a large party, we were taken upstairs and put in a dining area that took away from the restaurant. The chairs were hard and uncomfortable. The chairs for the table of 7 were much more cushioned and comfy. They should use those throughout the restaurant. For a party of 8, the bill came up to $722.15 (gratuity included). I'm happy we had the $250 vouchers from the hotel to use towards the bill because what we ate was not worth the money spent. I suggest Chef Ramsey find out who was cooking the beef that night and teach him/her how to cook the meat right or let him/her go and find someone who can do better. People, the appetizers and drinks were spot on. Skip the beef or go to a different steakhouse.
BTW, I heated up my meat in the microwave the next day, added salt and ate it for breakfast with some French toast sticks and grits. Sad, I know. Lol
