For those who make the journey, you will be well rewarded. Turgua is a small oasis in pretty much the middle of nowhere - well let's just say Fairview is a little outside Asheville.
Follow the small signs along the forking gravel drive and park on the grass. The taproom is small - maybe five stools plus some outdoor seating. Yes, that's the Brewer's house up on the hill - the brewery and tap room are in his backyard. I kid you not.
With 30 years of home brewing under his belt - Phil Desenne makes magic here with locally sourced ingredients.
The Waxwing Oatmeal IPA was such a nicely made, clever twist on a beer. The fresh Strawberry Rhubarb Saison (Frayzon) was just a little sweet, tart smooth and delicious. The Sapsucker - the current Session IPA was my favorite - I couldn't drink enough of it.
Bonus = complimentary bar snacks Double Bonus= Kirsten the bartender, who glows, serves beer and makes great conversation.
Love, love, love this place!!
