| - Veggie Rebellion is a step in the right direction for the vegan community in the Phoenix metro! It immediately reminded me of Food Fight in Portland, Oregon, but with more space to grow! We get most of our vegan groceries from Whole Foods, and don't live in the West Valley so it won't be a daily shop for us, but they have a wide variety of hard-to get vegan products, so we'll definitely make the occasional trip out.
Some of our scores on this trip included Herbivorous Butcher maple "bacon," a vegan "ham" roast, soy curls and a few other small items. We also scored some cupcakes from a baker (Positively Frosted) who had a table in the store that day. They have Violife vegan cheese, which is the new buzz item in the vegan dairy world, but I wasn't interested in the flavors they had in stock.
The store is located right on Glendale in the downtown shopping district. There are a few parking spots in back of the store, and lots of street parking. While there are no 100 percent vegan restaurants in the area to make it a destination location, the owner said a few of the restaurants nearby have vegan menu options.
It's so nice to be in a store where I don't have to check the labels for random or hidden animal products! Remember to bring your own bags and containers for bulk items!
