| - So my old dentist wasn't in my new network, but according to the insurer's website at least 15 dentists here at Aspen were in the network.
Went there, had every dental x-ray imaginable, had a brief consult with a dentist who said I had three cavities, got whisked away by the office administrator who priced out the cleaning and fillings for me at close to a grand, informing me that they were NOT network providers but I got a 20% off coupon applied to my services, (lucky me.)
When I said thanks but I think I'll just go to a network Doc, she stammered when I asked for a copy of the x-rays, as my glow-in-the-dark quota for 2016 had likely been met by the 17 shots, bite-wings, around-the-world-wings and all the other wings that had been taken.
I was told that she normally printed them out on photographic paper but er um uh it's a nickel a sheet er um and the cat pooped on the last sheet so I asked her if she could email me the x-rays which she could not do inasmuch as she lived in 1972 and neither the Internet or picture files yet existed and jumped at my suggestion that she mail me the x-rays which she grabbed onto like a crazed passenger sliding down the Titanic's deck grabs a life preserver, and of course they were never sent.
I returned home, called the dental insurer after visually re-confirming online that the Aspen Docs are IN the network, I called the insurer just to confirm that I hadn't been slipped LSD and these docs are indeed in the network, and no.....I had not been ingesting illegal substances unbeknownst to me, and yes they were in the network.
I then called Aspen , told the office administrator of my findings, was told she would get back to me and I never heard from them again, much as I expected.
Ten days later, I'm in a dentist's chair who actually IS in the network, online, on the phone and in person, x-rays are done and through what I am forced to believe was divine intervention, there are ZERO cavities!
Hmmmmm!
Now I get why no x-rays ever left the house, nor, now that I think of it did the dentist ever show me on the x-rays the little cavity shadows that every other dentist in my experience has always shown me before drilling or even recommending drilling ....they combine to supply proof positive to me that there were never any cavities.
Now I also get why the dentist during his brief stammering visit never made eye contact looked at the floor and shoes during the entire consult and bolted for the hallway before I could say a word....he still had a lingering sliver of integrity drifting about in his conscience, hey maybe dentists take the Hippocratic oath as well as doctors.
These Aspen guys take the hypocritic, (a newly created word) oath, methinks
Might one surmise that Aspen views anyone coming in the door as an unlimited ATM, not a patient in need of honest dental treatment, with accurate diagnoses, forthright business practices and services performed under the auspices of the Golden Rule?
I think not.
More likely they are thinking of the condos they all OWN in Aspen, built and paid for on fraudulent practices and unethical diagnoses and charges.
When I got home from the proper dentist, I informed my wife of my experience, and she chimed in that Aspen had repeatedly tried to fraudulently charge her on work she never had done by them some years ago.
Same hmmm!
