| - I did a trial class today for my 3 year old son to see if it would be worth signing him up for a full six week session in kindergym and I was a little disappointed. I wasn't given any information about the gym, classes, given a tour, or introduced to the instructors like other places I have visited. I was hoping that I would because the facility was really nice. They just gave my son a name tag and said I could come back to the desk and sign up for classes when he was done if interested. The class size was too big in my opinion for a group that age. There were 15 kids and two instructors. I was not greeted by either of the instructors before or after the class :(. The class consisted mostly of the kids from the move-n-learn preschool. The class started off with a game of red light green light of some sort for about 10-15 minutes. After that they moved on to the set up obstacle course of climbing up a ladder, jumping off a mat, backwards roll down a wedge, hanging bar drills and the jumping down the trampoline. There was a lot of standing and waiting in line for their turn which ate up most of the class time. The kids only had time to go through the set obstacles maybe twice. After that they moved to another obstacle area which moved even slower. My son was anxious just standing and waiting so long that he constantly got distracted and wanted to cut in front of the other kids or wander off to entertain himself. I can't blame him, he looked bored. The class ended with playing in the foam pit for a few minutes which was his favorite part. I was hoping for more of an active program with constant movement and more direct instruction. There was another class going on with younger toddlers and their parents at the same time and that seemed like a well run class that looked like fun. I will be signing my son up for the 3-4 year old class at The Little Gym of Scottsdale instead. The class we tried there was small, FUN, had good music, constant movement, was challenging and the instructor was excellent and made us feel welcome. My son left that class super sweaty and tired which is exactly what I was looking for. I would suggest trying a free trial class at xtreme just to be sure it is something you are looking for. Maybe give them a call and try a class with less students enrolled and you will have better luck.
