  • I was here for the NBA Summer League last year (2016) and this year (2017), because no one will question your passion and fan-hood if you journey to Vegas in 112 degree heat to watch a bunch of guys fail to make it onto an NBA team. Half-kidding aside, both times were a great experience! It has a very casual, laid-back atmosphere (well, when we Laker fans don't take up the entire venue an hour before the stadium opens...), and the staff does a great job in facilitating the entire event. There are a ton of food options (those chicken fingers and fries were shockingly good!) around the concourse, and the organization places several booths and kiosks (testing your vertical leap, your wingspan against NBA players, mini-basketball, and autograph booths) for fans. For those interested in the NBA Summer League, it's a first-come, first-serve basis for seats. As a fan of the NBA, it's great to watch 3 or 4 games a day, but for those scouting out one specific team or player (Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram!), some of these games can be quite excruciating. Don't get me wrong, the players are literally hustling for their lives out there, with a million dollar contract for those who shine, so competition is always fierce. However, sometimes the talent disparity can make even the most stalwart fans groan with every extended whistle from the refs. To summarize, this stadium is clean, fun, and a great atmosphere (especially if you're a Lakers fan). I wouldn't be surprised if ticket prices are raised next year since the Lakers-Celtics summer league game had people scalping tickets in the desert sun... However, the draw of the crowd heavily depends on several factors: (1) Do the Lakers have a lottery pick, or an exciting 2nd year player on the roster? (2) Who are the Lakers playing? Celtics? You better buy your tickets now and skip lunch. The Grizzlies? You can probably come 10 minutes before and get front-row seats. (3) Injuries. It was a bummer that Ingram was pulled from the rest of the Summer League after his leg cramps, and it would've been even worse if Ball was sat too. Regardless, my friends and I will probably make this an annual tradition! The venue itself provides plenty of free parking, and is a few miles off the strip. For those checking this place out for non-Summer League reasons, I believe it would also provide a good time as well.
