  • Found Snowflake on Yelp and, after scrolling through all the photos, demanded (nicely) that my husband take me there after dinner. At least I waited til after dinner? The storefront and interior are unassuming. It's pretty small, with three tables inside. The menu is a bit overwhelming for a newbie--choose a size (small, large, or monster), flavor of snow, toppings (50¢ each), and sauce (first one is free, then 25¢ each after that). There are some pre-set combos to choose from if you need help. I opted for mango with strawberries, egg custard, mochi, and snowflake sauce (sweetened condensed milk), and my husband went for Choco Loco: chocolate snow, brownie bites, chocolate chips, and chocolate sauce. Loco, indeed. For those who are unfamiliar, snow is made by putting blocks of hard-frozen blocks of something similar to ice cream in a machine that shaves them into thin, melt-in-your-mouth ribbons of deliciousness. So it's lighter and airier than ice cream, and smoother and creamier than shave ice. Chocolate snow is chocolatey in the same way a fudgesicle is...more like chocolate flavor than actual chocolate. My kinda thing, but not everyone's. The mango had delicious flavor, but was a hair too sweet for me. The servings are huge--neither of us actually finished our smalls. The price for both came to $11. Note to self: next time get chocolate snow with strawberries, egg custard, and mochi.
