The Comic Book Lounge & Gallery is an event space, a gallery, a hang-out, and a store. If you're looking to go through dozens of longboxes to get that much-desired back-issue I'm afraid this isn't your right spot (try Kensington comics). If you want the latest t-shirts and toys, well you better get down to the Snail.
But if you want knowledgable staff who can recommend anything from kids books to local Canadian talent, buy original art from artists, and attend unique social gatherings, this is definitely the spot for you.
The Lounge is a different type of comic book store. Come in to get your trades and pulls, and stay to bask in the creative community that conglomerates here. There's always original artwork (usually for sale) up on the walls. They also share space with similar creative groups such as Guerilla Printing and evening art-classes. The Lounge is a shop truly in tune with the local creative community.
It's also clear that the Lounge has marketed itself successfully to the female comic-reading demographic, with quarterly ladies night events and an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere that can be rare.
I'd recommend the Lounge as the best comic store in the city for those looking to get into comic-writing and meeting like-minded creative individuals. But it's also great for fans who just want their comics and to hang-out at community-building events and parties with likeminded people.
