I had heard of CVS but never felt a burning need to visit one. Then I read online that they have a new line of cosmetics/hair stuff/skin stuff exclusive to them (Nuance by Salma Hayek, if you're wondering). I was thrilled that there is one relatively close by, as I was curious, but not curious enough to drive to Middleton (or, really, any farther than the east side of Madison).
It was much like Walgreens; LOTS of different items: everything from eyeliner to adult diapers to mechanical pencils to food and drinks. I perused the cosmetics and found some things to buy. Like Walgreens, some of the stuff is way more expensive than Walmart, but I think the selection tends to be better (better than Walmart, the same as Walgreens).
I signed up for the loyalty card (I am such a sucker for these) in less than a minute. The manager walked by while I was shopping and was very friendly; the cashier was also very friendly.
