What's the difference between the SilverCity brand and the Cineplex brand? I had assumed the SilverCity was a larger edifice. Standalone. More screens, more giant Star Trek space ship models hanging from the ceiling. The Fairview mall is a tight row of about 9 screens with a small first floor ticket area, escalators up, and then a single aisle of screening rooms. There's a bar lounge and some food vendors serving grub twice what you'd pay if you only had the foresight to pig out in the food court.
The screening rooms themselves have all the latest latest: Stadium this and reclining seats that and digital liquid THX over there and assymetrical Nadion field pulse generators under your seat.
None of that, however, helped them get the movie started on time. Yeah, even the Nadion generators. Bloody movie was 20 minutes late. No one bothered to come into the theater to tell us what was going on. And no one bothered to offer us passes on the way out. I can do without a model of the Enterprise NCC-1701D hanging from my movie hall ceiling (well, I can handle that slipshod attention to detail sober) but starting late? What are y'all run by former TTC bus drivers? And then you don't have the decency to make good? One Yelp star go bye bye. Fear me, Slipshod theater manager! Fear me.
Careful where you park. If you park anywhere and enjoy the mall first, they wall off the mall after about 10 pm. If your movie gets out late, you might have to walk half way around the mall to get to your car.
