  • I had previously used Pecos Russell Animal Hospital for over 10 years. I will divide this review into three parts: The Good (The Vets), The Bad (Front Office Staff), and The Ugly (The Office Itself). The Office Itself: Grade F This is THE filthiest office I have ever been in. Four years ago I complained to someone that it was getting awfully dirty. You can always find either dog poop, vomit, blood or a combination of the above in the offices and in the hallways. Now it is nothing short of disgusting and smells entirely of urine. This office should be closed down for two weeks while they hire someone to clean it out. It's not just the offices, use the restroom in this place. No one has cleaned that toilet in months. I once commented to the office staff that there was blood in a room. The girl came and looked at it and said ''I think that's bloody diarrhea.'' Oh. Much better. And all she did was throw a towel on it. The Vets must be used to the filth, and they just don't notice it, but this place is gross. Go visit the Animal Hospital right across the street to see what a clean, well-taken care of facility looks like. Pecos Russell? Clean yourself up! Front Office Staff: Grade D I'm sure it's hard to get decent help, especially when they probably pay these girls minimum wage, but this office gets the lowest of the lowest. Not sure if Audrey is still there, but there's nothing she likes better than discussing personal office business either on the phone or to other employees themselves. Not to mention when I had to put my 14 year old dog down she yelled to the entire office ''Molly! The charge for the euthanasia today is...'' Great. Thanks for letting the entire office know I was there to put my dog down. It's not like I'm not completely destroyed at this point, let's share with others. Just tacky. Also not sure if Lauren is still there but she hates her life, hates her job, hates the people who come in, etc. etc. I've seen her snap at employees, at customers and at the Vets themselves. The other nameless girl who was there when my cat had surgery (and subsequently died) could barely answer my questions when I called in a panic. She told me to call poison control and she didn't have the number (Really?!?). She told me over the phone they closed at 3, and that seemed to be the most important thing, because she told me twice. At the office itself, at around 2:30 p.m. she joked that the office was closing in 30 minutes. Inappropriate considering my cat was very ill. When she asked me to put a deposit down and I asked how much she said ''Just $600.'' Just $600?!? Like I was paying in tic-tacs or something. The Vets: Grade A- The Vets are good. They care, they take time with your animals. I have no issues with the Vets themselves. I've seen Doctor Z dozens and dozens of times and she is kind and patient. She also understands when you don't have $$$$$$$ and you need to take care of a problem. She even gave me her cell phone number and had to meet me at the office at 1 a.m. because of a bad reaction my cat had to being put under. She's wonderful with your pets and never seems in a rush. I also loved the vet who worked with the Alaska dogs. Wish I could remember his name but he was great too. Dr. Paetz I have only seen a few times. Overall I wouldn't recommend Pecos Russell Animal Hospital. If they cleaned the place up (I mean SERIOUSLY cleaned it up. It needs a crew!) and hired some front office staff that was pleasant and had better work ethics it would be a great place to take your animal.
